Test processes

CRUSH The cable sample is layed on a steel plate. With different weights the sample is loaded by leverage force.

 

TORSION The cable sample has to be fastened at a fixed clamping device and a rotating clamping device. After that the sample has to be brought in the initial position Then the rotating clamping device rotates first 180° clockwise, back to initial position and then 180° counter clockwise.

 

WATERPENETRATION This test counts for filled cables to check if all gaps of the cable are completely filled with a substance, which prevents an entering of water into the cable.

 

OVERLENGTH This machine was developed to measure the overlength of fibres of a bundle of loose tubes. The product to be measured is positioned between the two cutting units in a length which is bigger than the length of the measuring table. The two cutting units cut the cable to a length of 2m. After that the fibres are taken out of the cable and have to be cleaned. The cleaned fibre is positioned in a V-shaped groove and held there by vacuum. On one end of the measuring place there is a micrometer to define the exact length.

 

IMPACT The cable sample is clamped between clamping jaws. A weight which is located on a guiding unit is adjusted and released manually and falls down on the cable sample.

 

REPEATED BENDING he cable sample which has to be tested is bended forward and backward with 180° in that way, that the two outest positions form an angle of 90° on both sides of the vertical. During bending the sample is tensioned by a weight.
