The Billard Club Eisenstadt organised the 29th European Youth-Championship
in December 2004. This event was sponsored by Dunst GmbH:
|
| The championships were opened on
Friday, the 10th of December, 2004 by a delegate of the European
Billard Confederation (CEB) Marcel Engelen and the mayor of the
city Eisenstadt, Ing. Peter Nemeth. Afterwards the first three rounds
took place, where - without surprise - the favourites were taking
control. |
|
Thomas Irschik was pipped at the
post
Saturdays, the rest of the group championships were played (round
4 to 6). Thomas Irschik, the number 1 Austrian player had the chance
to win as the group's fourth player the player, who was ranked at
the second place, Koen Saver from Belgium. Long time he stayed ahead
of his rival, but in the end of the game he had to admit the defeat
with 300:255. Irschik wins the last game against the the German
player Patrick Pajzer. If he had won the game against Saver he could
have climbed up to the quarter finals. But in the end only a third
place in his group was fixed.
|
The championship's
favourite dropped
The quarter finals started with the first and second ranked players
of the four groups. Surprisingly, the favourite from France, Pierre
Soumange, dropped and could not reach the semi-finals. Soumange
played the game long time with his safe "american series".
But an oversigt of Soumange leds to a chance of his rival Saver.
Saver could win the game with a run of 156 points.
